Interior and cockpit one of the best aircraft for learning to fly

The Piper PA 28 is one of the most recommended aircraft for aviation training. There are several reasons that lead us to affirm this: some of them are technical and operational, such as the elements of the cockpit; others of comfort or convenience, such as the physical structure of the aircraft; and some, no less important, such as operational safety and performance in flight hours.

What is Piper PA 28?

If you do a research in any search engine about the Piper PA-28 and its characteristics, you will possibly come across that it is "an all-metal, un-pressurized, 4-seat, single-engine piston-powered, low-wing, tricycle-shaped landing gear (1 front wheel and 2 rear wheels) aircraft" and that's fine, it's a great definition, but it tells you too much and too little at the same time, so you're like "that is it? What happened here? I want to know more?"

The original Piper Pa 28 aircraft were the Cherokee and the Cherokee 160 (PA-28-150 and PA-28-160), whose production began in 1961. From the 160 descended the Warrior model, while from the 180 was built the Archer, which we will talk about and which also corresponds to the type of aircraft operated by our Institution for commercial pilots. The Archer II was produced by the Piper Aircraft Company until 1994/1995 and currently this American company manufactures Archer III models.

The Piper Pa 28 Archer II and Archer III have a flight range of more than six hours and a power of 180 horsepower (mostly). Generally the Archer II aircraft have Garmin communication and navigation radios, and the Archer III allow glass cockpit training, autopilot and electric trim for automated flights.

They are typically 2 to 4-passenger aircraft. The engine is equipped with starter, alternator, magnetos, a vacuum pump and a fuel pump, among others.

In addition to these technical specifications, it is worth mentioning that this type of aircraft is ideal in terms of operational safety, as it has a flight autonomy pretty good, which allows for better performance and greater operations in scheduled flights..

Differences between Archer II and Archer III

We have already talked in general terms about the Piper PA-28 aircraft and now we are going to go deeper into the best known type of Piper. The Archer II and Archer III, this classification was born out of the need to generate more technology in the cockpits, greater comfort and higher performance for pilots:

The main differences can be classified as:

Technology: The Archer III models have a more advanced avionics system.
Structure: The engine cowling (nose) between the two models is different.
Engine: The Archer III has some internal differences in the carburetor and alternator with respect to the Archer II.
Electrical system: The Archer II has a 12-volt electrical system, while the Archer III has a 24-volt electrical system, which allows conditions such as autopilot and air conditioning.

It should be noted that there are other Piper models such as the Warrior and the Cheroque, among others.
